A Memorable Gathering of Families and Cultures
From October 18th to 21st, nearly 200 participants came together in Gradignan, near Bordeaux, for a weekend filled with connection, discovery, and celebration. Organized by a fantastic team of volunteer parents—whom we warmly thank for their dedication and energy—the event was a resounding success! Their hard work created a welcoming and joyful atmosphere for everyone.
Inspiring Stories and Valuable Conversations
The weekend offered a platform for sharing and reflection on the experiences of children currently immersed in French host families. Around a dozen young participants shared their personal journeys—their discoveries, feelings, and the occasional challenges faced in this unique adventure.
These heartfelt testimonies resonated with the 20+ other children in attendance, sparking their interest and excitement about embarking on their own international exchange experiences.
Parents and children alike engaged in meaningful discussions, asking questions and exploring the transformative benefits of cultural and linguistic exchanges. These conversations strengthened the sense of community and highlighted the profound impact of such experiences in fostering open-mindedness and intercultural understanding.
A Joyful Family Break
Beyond the exchange discussions, the weekend was brimming with simple, joyful moments shared among families:
Meals enjoyed together, filled with laughter and conversation.
Games and activities, encouraging teamwork and fun.
Workshops and walks, where bonds were formed in an atmosphere of kindness and mutual support.
These moments reminded everyone of the importance of pausing, connecting, and celebrating togetherness in a fast-paced world.
Looking Ahead to Paris in 2025
The Gradignan weekend is just one chapter in the collective journey we are building together. It has sparked new ideas, inspired future exchanges, and strengthened the community of committed families within our association.
As we look forward to the next gathering—set to take place in Paris in 2025—we carry with us the energy and connections made in Gradignan.
