En Famille International specializes in 6-month exchanges in Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. The exchange pairs two children who spend a full year together—six months in each child’s home. For older participants, we also offer flexible durations tailored to individual needs.
The rules of our exchange are based on total linguistic immersion, resulting in incredible verbal fluency.
However, it is important to remember that En Famille International offers a second loving family, beyond the mastery of a foreign language. At the end of the exchange year, children and families form deep, lasting bonds.

For us, an exchange begins well in advance. From the moment you contact us, we ensure that you fully understand the philosophy of our exchanges and how we will live together throughout the exchange.
When it comes to education, it’s about being on the same wavelength. If we see things one way and you another, your child will struggle to integrate into their new life and family. You will need guidance and support.
You will also need to be prepared for the exchange. Parents play a vital role in an exchange! We often say that the success of an exchange depends significantly on the parents’ attitude! If you are open to differences, know how to set boundaries with flexibility, and are overflowing with affection, then our exchanges are for you!
Love and firmness are the key principles for parents. We explain this to you repeatedly, during our meetings and throughout the follow-up process of the exchange.
Your child will also need preparation for their adventure — as will their siblings. During the preparatory meetings, the whole family can reflect on the importance of everyone’s role in welcoming a foreign child. It is essential for your child to develop the ability to adapt and understand the etiquette of building a relationship within the exchange framework.
Families participating in the exchange know they can contact us at any time. Our experience shows that an exchange is not always a “smooth journey.” We do everything we can to help children integrate into their new life. We make sure to stay close to the parents during the exchange, encouraging them to contact us even for very simple questions.
Children involved in the exchange also know that they can easily reach us. After seven weeks, we conduct a Human and Linguistic Assessment (HLA) to evaluate the child’s language level. This report is shared with the families. We perform another assessment about 3 weeks before the child’s departure, and this report is also provided to the families.
