With the family, discovering the Dordogne!

Stay in Dordogne for Halloween with Esther

After our daughter Olivia spent the first 6 months of her exchange discovering parts of England, we have been hosting Esther in our family in the southwest of France since the end of August.

A few summer days during the All Saints’ holidays, and we decided to show Esther the Dordogne as a family. After two months with us, English is gradually being replaced by French.

Some discoveries of old stones in Montignac through a Terra-aventura allowed her to immerse herself in the old towns full of history. The “Impasse d’enfer” seems to have inspired the children.

More treasures, more treasures to discover in the old quarters of Montignac – Lascaux. The local geocaching was a real hit with the kids and allowed them to open their eyes to the details of the narrow alleys. The location and the narrow streets encourage imagination.

Let’s not forget the inspiring Lascaux site. The prehistoric paintings have not revealed all their secrets and invite a return for new stories. Wonderful opportunities to reflect on oneself, to question the traces we leave behind, and to discover new words for Esther: parietal art, caves, discoveries, secrets, abbot.

Halloween with the Family

Let’s not forget the English-speaking event at the end of the month: Halloween. We celebrated this moment by dressing up in the most horrible ways (especially the boys). A castle decorated in the theme of Tim Burton’s films, and everyone was immersed in the fantastic and the mysterious. A new walk through Sarlat to get familiar with foie gras and taste it. New flavors – this is also what En Famille International exchanges are about!

With eyes full of fabulous, historical images and slightly tired feet, we returned home after these few days spent in Dordogne.

So many discoveries for the whole family, on different levels. An exchange with En Famille International allows time to build these bonds. The 6-month duration is ideal to get to know the child, offer them activities, and show them our rich environment.
